My clients include companies, government agencies and international organizations. This reflects that I enjoy working with professionals with different national backgrounds and varying kinds of expertise.
I also enjoy teaching students at Maastricht University. My main objective here is to prepare students to a professional career (or a writing a PhD) as effectively as possible.
So which impact do I have on organizations? Below, six of my clients answer this question in their own words:
- ABN AMRO Bank
- International Union for Conservation of Nature
- Maastricht University
- North Atlantic Treaty Organization
- Young Energy Specialists
1. ABN AMRO Bank
Leonhardt’s geopolitical scenarios were creative and reflected a historical awareness that is invaluable in any scenario building process that concerns countries. Finally, he had a pleasant moderating style that combined provocative positions with a friendly tone. In that way, he managed to keep the discussion going even if he disagreed with some of the participants.
Leonhardt succeeded in convincingly emphasizing the disparity of geopolitical approaches in the handling of case studies and illustrating the multidisciplinarity of geopolitical concepts. With remarkable methodological/didactical aptitude, Mr van Efferink made this advanced training activity a definite success, considering and integrating the different proficiency levels of the course participants.
3. International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
Leonhardt has contributed to our joint expert meeting with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Transboundary Governance and Natural Resources in the African Great lakes. He did a superb job from bringing new insights in the investment and economic risks/possibilities of these African countries to challenging our concepts and looking at possible solutions for the sustainable development / investment of this Great Lakes region.
4. Maastricht University
Leonhardt takes the students on an interactive, hands-on, all afternoon journey into country risk analysis. The fact that students stay engaged in an all afternoon workshop, tells all you need to know about Leonhardt’s skills as lecturer and his profound knowledge of country risk and geopolitics.
5. North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
Leonhardt led his own facilitation group in a friendly, courteous and inclusive manner which engendered a spirit of participation and cooperation in achieving the Working Group’s goals. His ability to mix easily with personnel from the 28 different Nations of NATO was particularly noteworthy.
6. Young Energy Specialists (YES)
Leonhardt gave a stimulating introduction to the strategic nature of natural resources and the role of different geopolitical perspectives. His brief explanation of the scenario building approach of this workshop was clear and the groups found his feedback during their presentations of the scenarios very useful.
